Some words about bluffing. Unlike limit poker bluffing is worth doing when playing NL poker.
Bluffing is a huge science, including your skills, experience and discipline. It's not a secret that bluffing is a quick way to lose your stack. However, if you know the art of correct bluffing that will give you lots of opportunities to increase your poker profits considerably. Beginners don't bluff as advanced players only are able to. Nonetheless, you live and learn. Although bluffing is a poker strategy itself, it has its own strategy.
- Don't strive to bluff someone out of a pot if they have AA, KK or AK. At $200 NL it's of the much effort to make someone fold their Aces.
- Find players who are committed to a pot and bluff them out of the pot.
- Finally, it's easier to bluff someone out of a pot if you know what your opponent's hand is like and you know what he thinks you have.
All in all, bluffing is a rather expensive strategy and it has lots of points you have to take into account. For example, the number of your opponents. You will take less risk bluffing one opponent, but if there are two opponents, your risk doubles automatically: one of them may have a hand that he will call with. Semi-bluffs are known to be the best bluffing strategy in No-limit Texas Hold'em. You use your drawing hands to bluff with and you might win a hand even if you're called. Semi-bluffs are really profitable but not when your opponents call too often.
